California teen arrested for drunk driving after accident

A teen girl is facing charges following a sensational accident. News of the accident, which resulted in the death of her sister, became viral because she livestreamed the incident on Instagram. A recent news story gives more detail on the charges and of the incident that happened in California.

The girl was already livestreaming before the accident occurred and the video continued throughout the accident. She was driving, with two minors in the backseat, when the car started to swerve. Allegedly, the girl overcorrected and caused the vehicle to go off the road. The car hit a fence and flipped, causing her sister to be ejected from the vehicle. Neither of the two underage passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The video, which has not been released due to its sensitive and graphic nature, supposedly ends with the driver speaking about killing her sister and facing jail time. She also kisses her sister and urges her to wake up. The video was removed from social media websites, citing a violation of their standards. The girl was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter charges.

Along with the turmoil and grief of losing her sister, the young California teen is now facing drunk driving charges. She is likely sorting out her criminal defense with a defense attorney. When facing criminal charges, individuals have the right to an attorney. Many people choose to use the services of an experienced lawyer to develop a defense against the charges in order to reduce them or eliminate them altogether.
