California daycare operator accused of sex crimes

Parents in California place thought and effort into deciding who will take care of their children while they are at work. Once they make the decision, they place a great deal of trust into their chosen childcare providers. Unfortunately, police believe that one day care owner molested one of the children in his care, resulting in his arrest following the allegations of sex crimes.

The 41-year-old defendant and his wife operate a day care in their home. The mother of a 5-year-old in their care contacted police, claiming that her daughter reported that she was sexually abused by the man. As a result, police interviewed the man.

While he was at the police station for an interview, police conducted a search of the man's house. He was arrested after the search with police claiming that evidence collected supports the allegations that he was sexually abusing children; it is unclear what evidence was collected. He now faces multiple criminal charges, including lewd acts with a minor under 14, sexual penetration by a foreign or unknown object and continuous sexual abuse of a child. Police say that officers with their crimes against children unit are involved in the case.

If the man is convicted as a result of the allegations against him, he could spend a great deal of time in prison. While accusations of sex crimes must always be investigated, it may be difficult for a 5-year-old victim to fully understand the accusations he or she is making. A criminal defense attorney can help the California man appropriately respond to the accusations he is facing and provide guidance throughout the criminal process.
