California man arrested, suspected of drunk driving

Accidents can happen at any time for a variety of different reasons. California daycare operator accused of sex crimes

Parents in California place thought and effort into deciding who will take care of their children while they are at work. Once they make the decision, they place a great deal of trust into their chosen childcare providers. Unfortunately, police believe that one day care owner molested one of the children in his care, resulting in his arrest following the allegations of sex crimes.

Prop 57 applied retroactively in California juvenile crimes

In November, voters in California passed Proposition 57 with the goal of reducing the overall size of the prison population. As such, the law gives judges, not prosecutors, the power to determine whether accusations of juvenile crimes should be heard in juvenile courts. Some defense attorneys are now successfully arguing that the law should apply retroactively to cases that were pending at the time the law was passed, rather than only to cases in which charges were filed after its passage.

California man convicted of sex crimes receives jail, probation

Judges have difficult jobs. They must make decisions regarding punishments that provide justice to victims but also do not violate the rights of those convicted. One California judge has recently issued a sentence for a man accused of sex crimes that left a prosecutor claiming he was surprised as he expected a longer prison sentence.
