Drunk driving suspected in California wine wagon accident

There are often many scary moments for people using California roadways. Such a moment recently resulted in injuries for one woman. While authorities describe the incident as an attack by a pickup truck driver, those who know the driver claim that it was simply an attempt at a joke that resulted in an unintended accident. The driver is suspected of drunk driving.

The incident involved a "wine wagon" containing several people and pulled by a tractor. While passengers filmed, the driver of an orange pickup truck allegedly began to make gestures described as obscene at the wagon. Witnesses claim that the driver then accelerated abruptly and rammed the back of the wagon. A female passenger was allegedly thrown from the vehicle and suffered moderate injuries.

The pickup driver has since been arrested and faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and drunk driving charges. However, the tractor driver claims he is a friend of the man facing criminal charges. He argues that the driver did not intend to hurt anyone but was instead attempting to pull a prank. Unfortunately, he claims that the man had little experience driving the pickup truck and hit the wagon harder than he intended.

Allegations of drunk driving can have serious consequences on a person's life. In addition to the potential for a criminal conviction, charges alone could potentially result in the loss of a job. In this case, it is unclear what led California officers to believe the man was under the influence of alcohol or how his blood alcohol content was determined. In order to make informed decisions about his case, the defendant has the right to seek the guidance of an experienced defense attorney.
