It is almost impossible to turn on the news or open a newspaper without seeing news about the 2016 presidential election. Even though the election is still months away, people in California and across the country are starting to vehemently support their preferred candidate. Unfortunately, tensions can rise between those with opposing viewpoints. In fact, three teenagers now face accusations of juvenile crimes for their alleged actions at a rally for Donald Trump.
The rally happened in California one day in early June. According to police, there is video evidence of a teenager striking a man with what has been described as a blunt object. The man was reportedly bleeding in the video. It is unclear what preceded the recorded incident -- if, for example, the teenager may have felt his life was in danger. He has been arrested on suspicion of felony assault.
Two more teenagers were also arrested. Police say they were also captured on video assaulting someone. They are accused of chasing the man and tackling him. It is unclear if the two alleged incidents are connected. Their identities of the three teenagers have not been released due to their ages.
Regardless of the accusations made against the teenagers, they are considered innocent until -- and only if -- proved otherwise. Because they are likely unfamiliar with the process that follows the arrest for juvenile crimes, an experienced criminal defense attorney may be able to help. By having such a person on their side, the California teenagers and their families will likely be better prepared to make informed decisions regarding their cases, including whether to fight the charges in court or accept a plea deal.
