California woman accused of drunk driving after collision

It is hard to predict how a person will react to a car accident. Even accidents that are relatively minor can cause people to go into a state of shock over the awareness of the potential harm they could have experienced. Unfortunately, this shock could be incorrectly interrupted by emergency personnel who respond to the scene. A woman in California was recently arrested, accused of drunk driving, after police say she was acting as if she was intoxicated following an accident.

The accident happened in the early morning hours of a day in late April. Reports indicate that the woman was traveling west on a California road when she struck a utility pole following a turning movement that reports indicate was unsafe. The car came to a rest in the eastbound lane of traffic.

The collision knocked over the power pole. Because of the live power lines, the woman was unable to leave her vehicle until workers disconnected the power. Although details regarding her behavior are unclear, police claim that she acted intoxicated and took her into custody. Her blood alcohol content at the time of the accident is unclear as well.

When an accident occurs at a certain time of day, it is easy to make assumptions about the sobriety of the driver. However, these assumptions are not sufficient to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in court. To help ensure that they are treated lawfully and that they are equipped to make informed decisions about their case, many people in California facing drunk driving charges seek the guidance of a defense attorney with experience concerning these types of cases.
