Drug charges for man in San Luis Obispo

It is important to remember that in this country, people are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Although the initial story about an alleged crime may seem to have the facts signed, sealed and delivered, many times, a closer look will uncover new revelations about a case. A man facing theft and drug charges in San Luis Obispo is likely preparing to tell his side of the tale, as covered in a recent news story.

The man was arrested on various charges that included mail theft, forgery and drug possession charges. Police came upon the man allegedly sleeping in his vehicle, which led the authorities to charging him with camping in an unauthorized area. A check showed that the man was on probation with a clause that did not allow him to be in possession of checks, banking account information or illegal drugs. A search of the man's car resulted in the recovery of supposedly stolen mail and checks as well as drugs.

A joint investigation with the USPS is ongoing. The man was booked into jail and remains there. His bail is set at $20,000.

It's not easy to know all the facts of a case upon first glance, which is why police detectives investigate crimes. Collecting all relevant evidence helps ensure that the proper suspect is caught. Since the San Luis Obispo man is facing these drug charges, he is likely doing his part to defend himself. Any accused person has the right to use the skills of a criminal defense attorney, who can work to devise the best strategy possible to defend against any charges his or her client may face.
